K AKTxxx Kx AKxx, you deal both vul at BAM and open 1. It goes DBL P 1 back to you. If you leave room for it, it goes 2 P P back to you next round. What is your plan?

The conditions are as best as I can remember them, but if it makes a difference I'm also curious to hear what people do at other vuls and forms of scoring.

I can't believe any option was left out (in fact some that were included may be a bit ridiculous), but "other" is there just in case.

To me there's two possibilities; double - double and 2 - double.

I think the latter is the most descriptive, thus that's my choice.

This sequence should IMO show 6-4 (or possibly a powerhouse 2524) since I'd double 1 with 1534 and jump to 3 over 1 with 5-5.

How would you bid a 1633 hand strong enough to take two calls after opening 1? That would be X...X or 2...X?

Would probably sell to 2S at IMPS, and close to passing vulnerable at BAM if the opponents will double any contract they can beat a trick. Strongly prefer double to 3H at third turn - either of 3D by partner or 2S doubled by the opponents could easily be a better contract than 3H.

I agree that 2-Double is more descriptive. Unfortunately I do not know this when I make my first call.

Well, neither do I. But it's not a sensational development, is it? :)

 The smart money in this thread is on double, double. I can understand the first double since I can bid 2 over 2, but I am having trouble understanding the virtue of the second double. Over 3, I guess I have to bid 3. Isn't double followed by 3 the second time a tad better since I can pass a subsequent 3 knowing we have at least a 5-2 fit with five bagger in the weak hand producing some tricks not available in other contracts?

I have no strong feelings about 2 vs double, but I really don't understand the 3 bid taken in the actual auction at the table.

Edit: Actually I do prefer double on the first round.

Maybe this is too hard to understand:

1 : I have hearts

2: ... and clubs

3 but my hearts are much better. Oh and my hand is strong enough to bid it till the 3. level all on my own.

:)
