SillyBily
today - 21.11. 2007 I responded to calls for subs. Tourney #1555 TD was BBO Polska Team. I was placed at the table and was to play contract as bidding was finished. I took my time as contract was silly. To my amazement I was kicked out from the table without a word of explanation. When I complained to TD he said : lol. When I complained again angrily, that he was rude to kick me out all he had to say was some bull about bad connection and that original player was back.I might have silly nick, but from a TD I would really expect some culture and good manners irrespectively of how silly the nick is. I want this TD repremanded and taught to :1. thank the sub for coming2. inform the sub of player being back3. ask the sub to KINDLY vacate the seat4. thank the sub for being good sport. I would like to know what action was taken (if any) If we are to expect good manners from players, people at the top must set high standards Best regards to ALL YOU HARD WORKING people to make this site the greatest site in the world. inquiry
today - 21.11. 2007 I responded to calls for subs. Tourney #1555 TD was BBO Polska Team. Most TD welcome subs, honor them, and thank them for playing at the end. Many never replace a sub with a returning player, others ask if the sub would mind standing. Without substitutes, teh online tournaments would be a total disaster. I would like to know what action was taken (if any) I can tell you, so far, what action will be taken. The answer is none. You have not identified the director involved by name, and you did not (at least here) report it to the correct place. And if you had posted a name here, publically, I would have deleted it. We have abuse at bridgebase dot com (replace at and dot with correct symbols) where you report this. Abuse oversees TD's. Even should you report this to abuse, I can pretty much assure you that you WILL NOT be told what action (if any) is taken. The reason is BBO policy is not to share disciplinary actions against one member with other members. But I will say this, being a TD (with power to start a tournament) is a priviledge, not a right, or BBO members. We frequently and readily remove this right for boorish behavior. I will also say that once a tournament is created, any assigned director can assign others to be a TD -- even those without "permission" to be a director. If we really don't want someone from directing, we can remove the priviledges from those who allow them to direct anyway (After appropriate warnings I guess). Occassionally we remove someones rights to be a TD and they tell their "players" and have them lobby for it to be returned. Occassionally we remove the rights and people notice that person is not directing anymore on their own. We can not control either of those events, but we do not share those facts or why we made the decision with the anyone but the person who is sanctioned. glen
I sub sometimes, mostly in speedballs. Tonite I subbed for 1 card in one tourney, and for a few hands in another. Both times I got bumped out of the tourney. If I get bumped I know what happened. TDs are too busy with all the adjustments, the disconnects, the left-the-computer folks (hey "phone" or "door" is not okay in a speedball), and the rest. Be happy you get to play for free! Guest movingon
I generally play the ACBL speedball tournaments. My connection is pretty good, but I am disconnected now and then. When I am disconnected I usually am back within 10 seconds. If a TD has put in a sub, I really do want to be placed back at the table (assuming that a hand is not well under way). And I appreciate it when the TD gets me back there as soon as possible. (In other words, if the sub has bid the hand and I am back to play or defend it, I would like to be able to do so. or if the bidding has just begun, I would like to be able to be put back in to finish the bidding.) Speaking of subs, one sub not long ago opened my partner's hand 1 heart with 6 hearts and 7 hcp. We weren't damaged, but we sure could have been! I guess what I am trying to say is that some of the subs aren't very good, and you cannot blame we players who pay to play these tournaments for wanting to have more control over what happens.
