kenrexford
You know, I'm just curious here. I wonder if anyone else has noticed something strange. I was reading through a couple of recent posts on the whole Shanghai business, and I noticed a few names of contributors to the discussion whom I did not recognize. This made me a tad curious, as they were bunched all together. Anyway, I noticed that a few of these folks have very few cumulative posts. Sometimes, as few as the single post the I just finished reading, or maybe two or three all in the same exact topic, or something like that. Now, I'm admittedly very into a good conspiracy theory, but it seems odd to me that folks who would pop into a forum based on bridge would never post at all, ever, and then would suddenly start offering words of wisdom about this latest controversy, one that has political relevance and one wherein good plugs and nudges and the like might be possible. Just an observation here.
kenrexford
It's more interesting than I thought initially. Three folks in a row joined the very day of the first post, on November 20, 2007. In fact, it appears that 36 folks have joined BBF today. That up from somewhere ranging between 2-4 roughly each day. As I go back through the other days, most folks jump on to discuss some bridge concept. A number of the 11/20/07 folks have done nothing except to post on the Shanghai incident. inquiry
It's more interesting than I thought initially. Three folks in a row joined the very day of the first post, on November 20, 2007. There was a lobby news item talking about both the forum, and the bush thread specifically (among others). It is not surprizing, therefore, that some would come to see what the forum is all about.
Hanoi5
And it is also possible that some people have created 'alternate' accounts to express (or reinforce) their point of view.

Foxx
Yeah, I noticed this yesterday but was reluctant to be the one to bring it up. Very interesting and peculiar, not only that people would register just to post in a specific thread (which I don't think has ever happened here before, but I could be wrong). More curious, however, are those who registered months, or even years ago without posting so much as once, and all of a sudden the 'sign' fervor has them springing to life. I guess we're a community of imposing, scary, intimidating bridge players and nobody wants to step in if they're afraid they'll look like they don't know what they're talking about. But brew up a political storm, and all of a sudden everyone and their mother needs to have their opinion heard, no?
