Apollo81
♠6♥A6543♦8♣K109654 1♥-(1♠)-? Both vul, IMPs
jdonn
What are the options please? 3♣ fit jump? 4♣ fit jump or splinter or ? I would make the highest fit jump I could, then bid 5♥ on my own if they bid 4♠, trying to help partner decide over 5♠. If I had no fit jumps I would bid 2♣ first, trying to accomplish the same thing in the end.
pclayton
Looks like a normal 4♣ (even 5♣) FJ to me. Not playing these, I think its a 4♥ call and then 5♣ over 4♠.
Apollo81
Assume you are playing whatever conventions you'd like. Alternatively, if you'd like the problem similarly to how it was given to me, assume you're not playing fit jumps, 3♣ is a WJS, and you have no other specific agreements. Apollo81
For the record, I believe (can't remember for sure) my answer when given this problem was to bid Keycard, as much for the preemptive effect as anything. I'd probably have bid 4♣ fit jump if that was an option.
inquiry
Robson/Segal explains it.. 4♣ fit jump.
ArtK78
Key card is my first thought as well. If partner has controls, we can make a lot. If not, we can preempt the auction. Key card is best if it is not 4NT in this auction.
whereagles
I don't think this is the sort of hand R/S meant as a fit-jump. I'm bidding 2NT, followed by 5♥ over 4♠, even if pard dbls 4♠. Maybe 5♣ instead of 5♥ if something nice happens.
gwnn
4♣ for sure. R/S said 5♣ was natural
bhall
3♠, hoping for (4♠)-P-(P) back to me. Then 5♣ should give partner some idea about which high cards are working.

Guest Jlall
If I was not playing fit jumps I would splinter with 3S. This hand has a ton of slam potential. If I was playing fit jumps I would obviously make one

Guest Jlall
posters....do many/most of your opp play fit jumps in your circle of f2f tourneys? With some of my partners I would play 3C as a fit jump (F1round) and 4C as a splinter. With some I would play both 3C and 4C as a fit jump. With most I would play 3C as WJS and 4C as a splinter. I would never play 5C as a fit jump and think thats a terrible agreement (jumps to game in competitive auctions need to be to play).
brianshark
In the polish system I play with many of my partner's, we have fit-jumps only over doubles of 1x openings. I know of few opponents who play fit jumps here in ireland in the clubs I frequent, but I'd say there are one or two.
Finch
posters....do many/most of your opp play fit jumps in your circle of f2f tourneys? What's my "circle"? At the local club, fit jumps are rare.In later round of national KOs, I would say the majority would play at least one of 3C and 4C as a fit jump. I play them both. Everyone plays 5C as natural, as Justin says game bids in competitive auctions are (usually) to play.
gwnn
posters....do many/most of your opp play fit jumps in your circle of f2f tourneys? I've only seen one fit jump at a f2f tourney by an opp. True, it was CHO on something like Q7xxx.
andy_h
I like the highest possible fit jump if available. But with no FJs agreed, then prefer 2C then 5H assuming the bidding would be up to at least 4S when it comes back around again. A nice offensive hand
hrothgar
Guess that I'm in a minority, but I would not consider a fit jump with this hand. I love the shape, but I don't think that the club suit has quite enough texture.
keylime
I am not keen on a fit jump either, because if the opps have diamonds with their spades, this auction's going to get quickly moving. However, I hate a puny 2M/4M raise more, and it's a bad hand to try 2NT as a limit raise or better. So, I fit jump and hope for the best. dake50
Pass now to get doubled in 4H later.

We are going to play 4 or more Hearts so I will go slow with 2 Clubs hoping to find out more about partner's hand before committing to the level. Many early round opp in Nat ko do not play them. Only in the late rounds(small number of players in your country) do you see it pop up alot. They sound much more common on the bbo forums.
