Free
OMG, can you make it even more chaotic? We have special software to insert hands, when showing hands and bidding, make at least the biddings left are from the left hand,... Anyway, since I'm in a good mood, I'm gonna give it a try. 1. 4♦ is suit imo, and no fit in ♥. opener is minimal (after 2♠), so slam try is IMPOSSIBLE for East... 2. After reading the answer on question 1, I guess it's a sign off, yes. But why do you bid 3♥ anyway? Just bid 4♠. And why do you bid 2♥ GF in the first place?? :P 1♠ - 1NT2♠ - 3♠ (or perhaps 3♥)... Descide if you're gonna bid 4♠ or not...
mishovnbg
.......................................Hi happybridge!.....................................Playing 2/1 GF 2♥ bid is wrong, because not enough values for game. Right bid is 1NT RF and later rebid of 3♥. After 2♠ rebid you have a problem, because only 3♠ is possible bid and you can't show your ♥ suit - weaknes of 2/1 GF system....If 2/1 is GF unless 3♥ rebid, then biddging is right to 3♥ rebid. 4♦ show Tx fit ♥ cue bid (control) ♦, deny control in ♣ or good ♠ suit and slam interest. Generally if 3♥ is game try, then 4♦ is extreme bid, because not enough values for slam. The often mistake of players is "just to bid, what they have", while forget general target - to reach right contract. But if you need a top result, then in my opinion 4♦ is possible bid. Your partner can still have hand like: Ax,KQxxxx,Qxxx,x and with mistake in defense 6♥ is makeable..............................................................................Misho
inquiry
4♦ was a misclick.
Trpltrbl
2♥ is in my eyes the worst bid. Playing 2/1 just respond with forcing NT first and then after pd's rebid you bid ♥ showing around 10 HCP and 6 ♥. Forcing to game on a hand like that will get you the result that you deserved. But lets say the bids were made on different hands I would take 4 ♦ as an Cuebid. Mike
WGF_Flame
Id go with the 4♦ = cue bid, not because its not a good idea to play it as a natural bid but because its much better to have bidding guidelines , defaults and not to gadge each bid each time, and the default for me, is that a new minor bid at the 4 level, is not natural but cue bid with a fit, this makes life much easier even tho on a specific aution u might find ressons to play it naturally. inquiry
pls give more advices, thx very much.BTW... playing 2/1 GF, WEST should never have responded 2♥ imho. Here are two recommended auctions. VUL:EW SYS:2/1 west east♠:106 ♠ :K95432♥:KJ6532 ♥ :A7♦:Q98 ♦ :A6♣:A3 ♣:Q97 WEST EAST---- 1♠1NT 2♣2♥ pass or WEST EAST---- 1♠1NT 2♣2♦ 2♥Pass First, why didn't EAST rebid his six card suit? Well his hand is weak enough, so rebidding a six card suit is not out of the question. I wiould just treat this 6 card one as five. IF you rebid 2♠ initially this is where you play. In the first auction, passing 2♥ as east is easy. Partner didn't have enough for 2/1 GF and you have only two card support and 13 hcp. Nuff said. What is the second auction? Here the EW play a useful convention known as BART, so 2♦ shows a good (constructive) forcing NT hand with a ♥ suit. East with a minimum and modest fit, just signs off anyway. To find out more about the BART convention, see... BARThttp://bridgebase.lunarpages.com/~bridge2/...pic=178&hl=Bart
