whereagles
The trick seems to be how to guard against a 5-0 trump break without going down if they break 4-1 or 3-2... lol. Anyway, one can try this... T1. Ruff with heart J.T2. Ruff a club.T3. Cash a heart. Now, if trumps break, claim. If not, go back to dummy with a diamond and run the clubs, discarding spades. Then if RHO ruffs, overruff, pull trumps, go back to dummy in diams and claim. If RHO keeps discarding, 3 tricks from the end you'll have KQT over his Jxx, and the lead in dummy. elwood913
I go up with the ♥J. When I draw trump and find them 5-0, I get back to the board with a ♦ and then start playing clubs. If W doesn't trump one of the first 3 clubs, I trump the 4th ♣, back with a ♦, trump another ♣. Now all my trump are good. I think this works every time W can't trump a ♦. If W ever trumps a club, I overtrump, draw the remaining trumps and then back to the board with a ♦. This will only work when W has dropped the ♣J, making my ♣T good for my last needed discard. Not 100% but the best I can do. Bill
lilboyman
Looks to me as if East follows to both Spades and dummy ruffed low with the 4, Dummy cashed the Heart Jack and a then a low Club was led toward the closed hand which ruffed low and was over-ruffed by East who led a Diamond for West to ruff. So, ruff the Club high or overtake the Jack of Hearts.
lexlogan
I'm puzzled at the "West follows low" -- is the North hand at the bottom? Anyway, I ruff the spade low, cash the Jack of Hearts. Are they 5-0? Then I'll try reaching the long trump hand by ruffing a low club with the seven. Did I just get over-ruffed? I'd call 6-0 and 5-0 on the same hand extremely back luck! Otherwise I've got 12 tricks cold (if trumps aren't 5-0, I ruff the club high.)
