bridgeboy
Imps, all vul, You hold AQ7xxKQTxxxAQ after 2 passes, RHO opened 1C. At the table I chose to double (in retrospect, perhaps a poor bid?) the bidding proceeded: Pass Pass (1C) X(1S) Pass (2C) ? what is your plan now? Codo
oooops ops bid 1 Spade, sorry 1. I had bid 1 Spade and had looked at other problems now.2. I pass now, what else?
P_Marlowe
Hi, the t/o was fine, and it gave you someadd. information, the add. information may not be pleasant, but ... I would now make another X, the alternativebeing 2NT, may be better. This should show a bal. hand with 19/20HCPand stopper in clubs and spade. With kind regardsMarlowe
Fluffy
1♠ was the only bid IMO.
whereagles
If LHO is a joker, 2♠. If LHO is reliable, 2♥. And yes, 1♠ 1st round would have solved your problems.. lol. It would go... pass pass 1♣ 1♠1NT pass 2♣ dbl and if pard bids the expected 2♦, you correct to 2♥.
Blofeld
I'd probably bid 1♠ to begin with, but I don't mind double at all. Now I think the options are pass, double and 2NT, in approximate order of my decreasing preference for them (not that I'm happy with pass, but it seems the least dangerous). whereagles, are you really serious in suggesting selling this hand as a strong single-suiter with hearts? whereagles
whereagles, are you really serious in suggesting selling this hand as a strong single-suiter with hearts? Yes and no B) The bid of 2♥ suggests an 18-20 hand with 5+ hearts. I more or less have that, except for the 5th heart. The point is there won't be a problem with this bid because pard, who is short in spades, rates to have at least 3 hearts. And since he's clearly broke, he will probably pass. ArtK78
I pass over 2♣. If 2♣ is passed to partner, he will bid 2♥ on almost any non-bust hand with 4 hearts. I don't see what can be gained by bidding here. Any action is an overbid.
Apollo81
If I believe LHO I would pass. Otherwise I'm not sure what to do, probably would pick 2♠ or 2NT.
Guest Jlall
I would have overcalled 1S but don't mind X too much. I would definitely pass now, partner is still alive.
whereagles
I would definitely pass now, partner is still alive. alive and broke... you can depend on him to pass.
han
I would bid 1S, never double. Now I pass, I don't see any other reasonable option.
ArtK78
I would definitely pass now, partner is still alive. alive and broke... you can depend on him to pass. So if partner is broke, why would you want to bid here?
whereagles
So if partner is broke, why would you want to bid here? Because he can still have 4 hearts or 3 and spade singleton. He will probably pass 2♣ on those hands when 2♥ was on for our side. This is the old story once again: the strong hand must not pass important decisions to the weak hand. I've been saying this for like 2 years now but no one belives me. Bidding 2♥ seems strange but that's just a consequence of a bad 1st round bid (1♠ would be better). jtfanclub
AQ7xxKQTxxxAQ I've been known to X across a passed partner with a 10 count. Therefore, I X now to know partner know I've got the 15+. What the heck. If partner passes, it's not like they're in game.
skjaeran
I'd have overcalled, never doubled with this hand.I'm passing now.
