gwnn
I think I'd bid 2NT (it should be scrambling due to higher frequency/usefulness in this position) at the table, which should get us to the best partial as pd will bid clubs with some sort of 3136 hand and diamonds with some sort of 3145 hand. Yes, we can miss a nice 4-3 spade fit, but we can also miss a not so nice 3-3 spade fit.
han
3C. I think that 2NT suggests 5-2 in the minors rather than 4-2.
jdonn
2NT. I would for sure bid 3♦ if 5-2 in the minors, so I'm confident 4-2 is suggested.
han
Hmm yeah maybe I was too quick.
Finch
I voted for 2NT because partner might just be 2245. 3145 he would have doubled 1H. I think it's very close between 2NT and 3C because this way we'll probably play in 3D opposite 2146 when 3C might be better. I would for sure bid 3♦ if 5-2 in the minors, so I'm confident 4-2 is suggested. Hmmm. What would you do over 2H on a 4126? I suppose you'd bid 2S. OK, but what if the auction were 1S 2C 2S P P x and you were 1426 - wouldn't you double? So now 2NT probably could be 5-2 in the minors. Apollo81
3♣. Partner has to have 6 clubs here (else he would have doubled 1♥), andI'm not sure pard will play me for 4-2 minors if I bid 2NT, and They are more likely to bid 3♥ over 3♣, andIt's not 100% clear we want to be in this 4-4 diamond fit here anyway if pard is 4-6. Gerben42
Have to agree with ♣ here. pd cant be 3145 or 4135 because he'd double first, so the fit is in ♣.
skjaeran
I'd expect my partner to have six clubs most of the time here. He could be 3236/3136/2236 with a strong hand. I'm bidding 3♣.

jonottawa
Looks like the weigh-iners have weighed in. The actual hand doesn't actually prove anything since pard (me) didn't have his bid. I was just curious if anyone else would do what my pard did with this hand. I was the doubler and my double was gross. I didn't want to bid 2 Spades and get raised to 3. But I didn't want to sell out to 2 Hearts. I just hoped (and was willing to risk) pard didn't have 3-4-5-1 or something and bid 3♦. ♠QJT4 ♥Q ♦54 ♣AQ7542 Still, with the vast majority of you I would have landed on my feet. Unfortunately, my pard floated the double, a choice that noone else has made as of yet. I take full blame, since I was masterminding a bit and made the first mistake. Codo
Besides passing which should show the strength of your hand, why wasn´t 2 Spade your second choice if you don´t want to pass 2 Heart?
whereagles
indeed.. since your diamond tolerance is very low, 2♠ would probably be better than dbl.
Blofeld
I might have doubled 1♥.
