Edit Tourney

The current software doesn't allow certain edits once a tourney has started.

I understand why you shouldnt be able to change the type of movemnts once you have started, or the number of boards as there must be calculations done.

However, being able to switch from MPs to IMPs during the 1st board or being able to switch from unclocked to clocked would be nice, in case the host forgot to do this due to a last minute edit (I often have to do this because my tourneys are small).

Would also be nice if "text" changes took place after start. For example, I have forgotten to type in team names for a match. The edit won't take once the game has started.

I don't think we should not spend a lot of uday's time trying to fix this "problem". The TD's just need to be sure they know what kind of tournment (movement) and how many boards before the thing starts. The one thing you can modify on the fly is the time per round, making some rounds longer (say the first one where you are having to give instructions and everyone is coming back from getting a beer or something)... or ones in which the BBO hickups and everyone was delayed for a minute or two. Abalucy events do this from time to time to allow slow tables to catch up. But adding minutes to lots of rounds seems unfair to people who look at the minutes per board and think they can get the event in only to have 3 or 4 minutes added to every round, which rapidly becomes onerous on the people playing within the prescribed time limit.

 agree with you inquiry...

It is with regret I add time to rounds however I do this frequently if it is clear majority of people is not finish. If td need pick add more minutes to round or hear load screams of 10 tables who do not finish then i think it is clear what choice you make...

but you is correct. it is NOT fair to table who do finish in timely fashion if and ONLY if delay is not directly relate to issues of subbing/connection.

Is it fair to penalize innocent partners and opps if one person boot and no subs is available? sigh... this is true meaning of life quesiton i think tee hee no good answer... but fair answer is do best we ok to do and adjust 1 late table vs make entire tournament wait for unfortunate ones to finish...

Is it fair to mark people who is chronic disconnections /bad connections?

Yes/no... i feel very bad for this people but at same time if i weighing needs of 80 other pairs vs 1 person ....

I think all tds wish for thing who show us how many tables is finish so we reduce number of adjustment calls...

Well, let me make it clear, I am not totally against the occassional addition of a minute or two to a round. Events where lots of tables have had connection problems in one round is a perfect example when I think it is appropriate. However, I have played in tournments where the director adds minutes almost every round, and some times adding mulitple minutes to a single round on two or more occassions (once adding five and then four more to a single round).

I fully understand the problem with unclocked events (play drags on, and even with new software improvements, frequent playbacks). So I prefer to play in clocked events. But the solution of adding time so that everyone can finish before next round is particularly onerous if it happens round, after round, after round. Even abalucy things have gotten to where minutes are added in early rounds and then, bang, no more addition of time... which is great for me, because i usually play in ones staring late at night my time, and eventually I need sleep.

hi,

same here, i usually add first round one xtra minute for subbing and all, and last board for everybody to finish within reason, i tell my co-tds not to change round clock during the other rounds because it quickly becomes unclocked when u do that and there will always be one table asking for more time!with the new software come in action, i have a lot of fun, some players called me for one board they would have made but not in time, then u get all history of that player and it happens often that they several other unfinished boards, so while im at it(adjusting) i check all unfinished boards (of those players)

witch gave me a replie today: " i only ask for adjust board 6, not the others " (others more off course not in favour of this player).Think we now can be more fair then ever before , thx uday thx fred

greetings marc
