1eyedjack
I realise that the forum is powered by third party software and as such there are limitations bound by that supplier. I had an idea which may not be possible: When posting a "poll", the member should be forbidden from reading comments in the thread (other than the initiating comment) and from viewing the results to the poll, until after having committed a vote in the poll, at which point the results of the poll and the other comments would become visible (and the member would at that point be able to add comments to the thread). barmar
Why? Maybe I'm not interested in voting, I just want to read what others have said. For instance, maybe a beginner reading a poll in the Advanced/Expert forum has no idea how to answer a poll, and wants to learn by reading the comments from the experts. 1eyedjack
OK, I am happy with that. Slight modification to the original suggestion: You get to choose at the outset whether to participate in the poll. You can elect to view the poll results without first voting, and that election also frees up the other posted responses for viewing. But that once and for all election would deny you the opportunity later to submit a response to the poll, although perhaps a comment post would be permitted.
