mike777
With the latest news from Pakistan, fear mongering runs rampant in the USA media. First it was Iran would get nukes and therefore we need to attack Iran for some reason. Granted the logic never seems to take it the next step and they do some actual reporting and tell us why with some facts. Now it is someone, who knows who, will get Nukes in Pakistan so again the USA needs to interfere in the country somehow for some reason. Today the news also reports MI5 in the UK says there are over 2000 persons in Britain who are a direct threat to the country? MI5 says they are young and Muslim. Fear runs rampant. jonottawa
Completely disagree. Yes, fear-mongering in the MSM is a problem. But instability in Pakistan, the only muslim nation with nuclear weapons, is not something that should be taken lightly. Your 2nd example (that you edited-in after your original post) is better, but don't conflate the 2 issues.

So, now, is that out of the ~16 million Netherlanders? Or how many are from France, Germany, Belgium, <insert EU country here>... Michael. matmat
the world is going to end soon. you know why? well... lemme see if i can summarize everything i've seen on TV lately (Discovery/History Channel/Science Channel etc) that leads me to believe this.- a giant asteroid or comet hitting the earth is imminent- earthquakes and tsunamis will destroy the seaboard all over the world, very soon. - yosemite and other supervolcanoes will blow and cause a volcanic winter that will ruin crops and kill of many species- global warming will sink and cook us (think poaching)- a supernova or gamma ray burst in the Galaxy will go kaboom and mutate us- the Sun will turn into a giant and roast us (this may still be a few Gyr away)- the Moon (which is receding) will be unbound from Earth and we will lose tides and various other weather phenomena - a natural superbug (asian flu/sars/whatever) will spread and kill us all- a man-made superbug will kill us all- random entity will bow up tons of nuclear devices causing nuclear winter and all those other lovely things- various religious predictions will come true and destroy the earth/end of days/etc etc I am sure i missed some. btw, why are we so catastrophy oriented anyway? Winstonm
Here's some more "chilling" news. "Gisele Bundchen, the world's richest model, is insisting that she be paid in just about anything but U.S. dollars so that she can stay that way. Bundchen, the Brazilian supermodel who Forbes magazine says earns more than anyone in her industry, is demanding payment in euros rather than dollars, her twin sister and manager told Bloomberg." Wow. Things are getting ugly for the beautiful.
