helene_t
A9-AJ4-65-QT8743 1♣-(1♥)-X-(2♥)Pass-(Pass)-3♣-(Pass)Pass-(3♦)-X-(Pass)? Matchpoints, game all. You're playing with a sub (me) against semi-noobs. Agreed 2/1 udca. Hidden text for blame assignment: P (I) had KQ75-Q8-73-AJ962. Opener passed, 3♦X= while 4♣ makes as well. This was our only bad board so we won the tourney anyway).
skjaeran
I'd take out to 4♣, but that's close. In need of a top I'd try a pass. Since I could easily be 3334/2434/3424 on this bidding partner rates to have 5-card support for his 3-level bid. I think the odds for them making 3♦ is just to high to chance passing if I'm content with an average result on the board.
han
I don't think that partner needs 5 clubs on this auction, I'd expect her to be 4-2-3-4 most likely, although 4-2-2-5 is also possible. KJxx xx QJx Axxx maybe? That probably beats 3D though it is not certain. 4C would probably be off 1. If partner is 4-2-2-5 then both might make. I think it is a very close call but I'd probably pull. Guest Jlall
I would go for 200 because I'm a sicko. I'd bid 4C at imps or if they are white.
jdonn
4♣. Pass with six clubs? No thank you! The opponents even have a choice of suits, so they would truly have to be dumb for this to be passed out if partner has any sort of diamond stack. neilkaz
4C I've got a lot of clubs. Me too and they've got a double red suit fit.
whereagles
4♣ here too. Nice hand for good-bad 2NT
P_Marlowe
Pass. On reflection the winning call seems clear cut. I am not 100% sure I would have made the Xwith your hand. With kind regardsMarlowe
inquiry
Pass, it is matchpoints, I have defense. I go for the 200. Might they make it? Sure, so what, this isn't bridge, this is matchpoints. At imps, 4♣ is clear.
pclayton
My first thought was 4♣, but it seems they have 7 spades between them, so we should be getting 2 spades, 1 heart , a heart ruff and natural diamond trick. Maybe a club too.
helene_t
Tx. As for my 3♣ bid and dbl: I had KQ75-Q8-73-AJ962. 3♣ is ok playing Lebensohl, right? What if not playing Lebensohl? Is dbl (of 2♥) better than 3♣? Having made the 3♣ bid, is there any alternative to X over 3♦?
