skjaeran
What about 3NT?

Guest Jlall
4 is a clear overbid. If you can make game partner will bid over 3.

han
Agree that 4S is a big overbid, but I find the 3NT suggestion very amusing.
the hog
What about 3NT? Reminds me of a hand a few years ago in final of the Pennant comeptition.AKQTxxx Kx Ax AxBidding at our table:1H (P) 3H (3NT)Unfortunately this bid did not occur to uour teammate who bid 4S. The opps defended well to defeat this. with opener dropping K of C from Kx when the C Ace was played at trick 3 after the D K was led and a D continued. Btw I like 3NT on this hand, but would probably bid 3S.
kenrexford
This reminds me of a hand, as well. 2♠-P-P-2NT-P-3♠-X-4♥-all pass. Advancer had a void in hearts and thought I was creative with my 2NT call. I was not. Hearts did not play well.
dicklont
3♠ for me too. I see 7 tricks here, I suppose partner will raise with 3 tricks.3NT is funny, but only if it works out. How do you estimate that? When I try these jokes usually the opposition has the last laugh.
whereagles
I'm bidding 4. Not going to let pard guessing what to do when I can decide stuff myself.

pclayton
3♠ is obvious. Some adventurous types might try 3N.

helene_t
Dono about Justin, but I would not consider passing with that hand.

whereagles
Well.. ok, change a club into a spade or something. Still, I'm surprised you (and justin) bidding over a reopening 3♠. It's common practice to place pard with 7-8 points when bidding over a preempt, so, using the old 'move a queen' balancing rule, it seems normal to place pard with 9-10 points when BALANCING over a preempt. The hand I gave has 10 hcp, so it's more or less what pard expects me to have if he balances. Thus, I wouldn't bid on. After all, next time he has, say, KQxxxxKxxxxKx and even 3♠ is going to be a struggle...

jikl
I think I am a 1♠ or 3NT or 4♠ bidder actually. Given I have ♠ I can always out rank them. I have zero defence but I have a damn good suit, yet given how bad some of my preempts are partner will never believe what I have anyway. :P Sean

han
3S is quite wide-ranging, partner has an automatic raise with the 10-count and 3 spades. Partner even has an automatic raise with the 2 aces and 3 spades.
