OK, this is another instance where I need to get out of my old comfort zone and try it a little

I've survived (I'm not sure my partners have ;) ) making the move from cueing Aces and voids to Italian cues, raising partners 1M response with only 3, opening on less than 13..

Disclaimer: this has nothing to do with bridge

This thread has reminded me of when I first played “bridge” on yahoo and the auction went 1:2 3:4 (don’t laugh, that’s how we would bid) then perhaps one of the opps bid 5!

We would inform the player that they were not allowed to bid like that and boot them from the table :P

Our rules, we hadn’t heard of the laws.

Art, I do not open on anything but if I opened very light I would LOVE for my partner to respond very light. The best case to respond very light is when partner has opened with nothing. You can very often screw the opps out of a game. I don't understand this thinking of "partner may have opened light, so I can't respond light."

BTW I would put "we may screw the opponents up" as #1 on hannies list, not #4. Bridge is a competitive game, and this is a spot where you make life MUCH harder for them by just bidding.

I was reprimanded for that kind of bid in my first game in the "relaxed" club of the Internet Gaming Zone. That didn't seem much relaxed to me.
