Guest Jlall
[hv=n=sqjt6hkxxdatckxxx&s=sa8xhajt8xxdkqcxx]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] MP, weak field (club game). 1H by you, 1S by pard, 2H by you, 4H by pard. LHO fires out a quick spade 7, queen, king, ace. The opps are unknown but seem like your every day very bad little old ladies and play standard leads/carding. What is your plan? After you decide, read the hidden text that follows: If you led the DQ at any point early on, LHO hitches for about 3.5 seconds (ie VERY noticably) and plays small. Does this affect your play? Winstonm
Maybe it should, but it doesn't. Making 5 unless hearts 4-0 on the right.
ceeb
I'd like to bite, but there's a problem. dQ, hesitate, dA.heart to A.heart J. If LOL goes through her act again, play the h King & try the clubs for 6-odd.If LOL plays low promptly, then put the uncompleted heart trick to the side, cash the other diamond, then resume the heart trick & duck. Is it ok?
Trumpace
We play the ♥J: i) if LHO plays low without a flicker, let the J run. ii) If she hesitates on the ♥J, you go up, and finesse the T. :P (Yes, I did read the hidden text)

Elianna
Replying to hidden quote: It is not very uncommon at one of my local clubs for some of players to purposely hesitate in order to attempt to trick you. They tend to do it mainly to new players (and they think that all young people are new players) and think that it's part of bridge. Aren't they pleasant? gwnn
I told about such a hand to our TD (he directs almost all tourneys in Romania), he said "I can't do anything to these players, but I think they should all be gathered and shot to death". He was obviously putting it mildly.
kenrexford
Nice discovery play.
MFA
Nah, this LOL is not going to talk me out of my natural line of play. Maybe she did try to fool me, but why should she feel that I might fly with the ace here (missing the king)? And after all, she might have been off for a couple of seconds, it happens. Also, I wouldn't count on her doing this act twice within few seconds, if it was an act. Too obvious, even for her, I would guess.
