andy_h
[hv=d=e&v=n&s=skjxxxhaktxxdktcx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Ok. Forget about the previous post. You are N and E deals, who opens 5♣. Partner now doubles for takeout and RHO passes. Your bid. What do you suggest the different bids available like 5NT or 6♣? Is there a grand try or do you just try and settle for a better slam as the pre-empt worked on this deal?
Guest Jlall
I would bid 5N then 6H. I differentiate 5N and 6C bids based on whether or not the hand has a first round club control (likely not optimal). I'm sure kenrexford will tell you what the difference SHOULD be. Halo
5NT I wouldn't bid 6C without first round control. I'll await someone telling why they couldn't possibly play with anyone who bids that way.

Same here. 6♣ is a grand try with 1st round club control. If pard tries 6♣. I'll bid 7♥, not 7♣. I don't want to preemptors partner to be on lead. jdonn
I'll go along with 5NT. Seems pretty automatic, will usually make 6 of partner's better major and it's not impossible partner could bid 7 if it's right. Did he really double with the hand in the other thread? wtf.... Halo
What did we do over pass (the only imaginable bid).
