fred
There are 2 major changes in version 3.6.1: 1) Directors will have the ability to request the movieof any deal from any table at any time. In theory thiswill make it much easy for them to do thing like adjusting scores. You can access this facility through a new commandin the Tournament Management dialog box. 2) 1024x768 support. If BBO fills up your computer's entire screen thenyou have 800x600 screen resolution and this changewill not have any impact on you. If BBO does not fill up your whole screen, you willsee it's window become wider than normal the nexttime you log in. There are a lot of advantages to thewider version of BBO. I especially like the way thebridge table looks when you use "big deal mode" inwide mode (use the 4th button from the right of thetoolbar to toggle between big and small deal modes). You can use Control-W to toggle between wide andnarrow mode. This only works if you have at least1024x768 screen resolution. Please let me know if you find any bugs by e-mailing: fred@bridgebase.com You can update your BBO to the latest test version: http://www.bridgebase.com/beta361/bbo_update.exe Or replace your BBO installation with the latest: http://www.bridgebase.com/beta361/bbo_setup.exe If you are either a director or have a high screenresolution, I think you will enjoy this version :D Thanks in advance for help with testing and forwhatever feedback you can provide. uday
Note: the 3.6.1 client will not have the "Board History" functionality until the the server is also upgraded. Will probably happen sometime late on Feb/10/04 You'll know the server has been updated when you see two new commands in the Tourney Directors "Edit Tourney" dialog (this is the screen you see when you click the green TABLE button inside a tourney)
uday
I am hearing rumours that the wider screen is only available if your screen resolution is higher than 1024x768 ( that is, 1024x768 will not result in a wider screen).
fred
I am hearing rumours that the wider screen is only available if your screen resolution is higher than 1024x768 ( that is, 1024x768 will not result in a wider screen). The rumors are true - sorry - I screwed up. New copies of the files referred to in the first postin this thread have now been uploaded. 1024x768resolution should enough to get the wide client effect if you upgrade to the latest version. If you already tried the flawed 3.6.1 and you have1024x768 resolution, download and install againand use Control-W after you log in to enter wideclient mode. Sorry again about this inconvenience. ack_hh
Win98 SE, 1024x768, High-color 16 bit, 3.6.1 updated update :D Main Bridge Club: Ctrl-W results in the scrollbar being displayed within the kibitzers column. Table: pressing Ctrl-W twice results in a smaller chat window, just like clicking on Maximize/Restore. The Maximize/Restore pushbutton becomes "disabled" (greyed), but it it still working. julie5607
Bug Report? Using 3.61 beta seems that the control key shortcuts at table don't work, i.e. ctrl-l doesn't send a message to the lobby, it stays to the room. Julie

Thanks for the bug reports, Andreas. The scrollbar problem you report seems to happen ifyou hit Control-W from any place in which there is a(non-chat) scrollbar. This will be fixed in the next version. The fact that the window always ends up in "restored"size after Control-W is intentional. There were some badside effects that I could not easily get rid of when I triedto preserve the maxmized state. I don't anticipate that people will be using Control-W veryoften so hopefully this is no big deal. I suspect that peoplewith at least 1024x768 will choose either wide or narrowand stick with that. julie5607
Thinking there might be something wrong with my install of BBO, I completely uninstalled it, searched for all BBO related files and deleted them, restarted my system, and reinstalled the beta. Still no keyboard shortcuts. So I repeated the process of completely uninstalling and deleting and reinstalled the current version - keyboard shortcuts are back again. I don't know why I am the only one who has had this problem but clearly it is related to the beta in some way. Hope this helps, Julie
inquiry
Don't know if this is a bug...but when not online and loading a hand, the system opens in the larger mode and the CNTL-W toggle doesn't work. :-( Ben

McBruce
I am both a director and have a 1600x1200 screen, so I appreciate this update very very much. One suggestion. On my large screen it is a long mouse trek from the cards to the buttons below the enlarged chat area. I wonder if it would be possible to include an option to place the back, <--, -->, <-->, movie, etc., buttons at the top of the chat area instead of below. fred
pls have a look at http://home.arcor.de/akaestner/temp/bbo.jpg note the "Private" instead of "Name" in the profile. This picture is as it should be. You saw the profile this way because you werelogged in with a yellow ID. "Blue" users would see nothing in the profile except "no informationavailable". This member unchecked the "allowother members to see the above info" in theirprofile. We decided to let yellows see such informationin order to help them resolve disciplinary problemswith such people (a questionable design decision). The PRIVATE is meant to inform the yellows thatthe information you see is not meant for publicconsumption (ie you should be sensitive to theprivacy of this person). inquiry
New bug... In chat room in 3.6.1 in wide screen mode, the three button bars that allow you to put in the hands you hold, the auction and the leave chat room appear in the middle of the screen with scrollable text above and below it. When I go to the narrow version, (cntrl-w) all is fine. When I go back, screwed up again. Windows xp professional. Ben

inquiry
Another situation... which is particularily odd....but probably a server problem, not a client problem. I logged on today... was on for about 20 minutes, minding my own business (not playing, occassionally chatting with friends), in the main lobby. All of a sudden a public chat from a player to the kibitizers came on my screen.... This was odd because, like I said, I had not been on a table in 24 hours, and had not been at the same table with this player in at least a couple of months. So this chat was aimed at a table, imagine something like.. "playerx--> kibitizers: what a stupid play???" I would think maybe the table this message was going too died in mid transit, but then how did I see it as I have lobby chat off. Would everyone by default be kibitzers in this case? Anyway, I have heard others mention this happening, but this is a first for me. Ben
