djw
John Swanson and I have a couple of small suggestions to improve your fine site. The first is that when someone in a reserved seat loses connectivity and then regains it, the host has to re-admit him to the table. In the meantime, some uninvited kibitzers invariably jump into the seat, therebey requiring the host to request them to leave while the invited player is trying to get back in. It would be nice if the returnee were re-admitted directly to the reserved seat. The second suggestion is with regard to the automatic naming system used when the hands we play in a session get stored in the hands folder (very nice feature, by the way). It would be better if the files were named "year-month-date" as opposed to the current system of "month-date-year". The problem is that hands played in October 2006 get interspersed with those of October 2007, making it a little harder to find last night's hands. David J. uday
For now, this is the best I can offer: Once your set game has formed, click the TABLE button and change table perms to "permission required to play." This isn't a bad idea at any time. That will keep strangers out until your player returns. When someone loses connectivity and the system does not reserve his seat for him, click the TABLE button and make a reservation for him. When he logs in again, he will be asked if he wants to jump to his reserved seat. About the hands folder: you can get Windows to sort the files by date, most recent on the top. I think you can right click in an empty area of the file list and select 'arrange' U
djw
Setting "permission required to play" still allowskibitzers to ask permission and it is difficult to fend off therequests while trying to re-reserve the position for thedisconnected player. (The 'Table' window is preempted by therequests.)The system should not automatically clear a reservedposition when someone leaves the table - it would be preferable to have the clearing explicitly be under the control of the table captain. It is true that the Windows file system does support sorting by date. However: (1) One must re-sort each time you want to access another file; (2) The played sessions are then interspersed with the kibitzed sessions; (3) What advantage is there to having file names generated such that they don't sort in date sequence (when the date is already part of the file name)?
