Halo
Couldn't stop myself playing a top heart. I usually feel I need to try hard to beat 2NT. It's often a bad score if it just makes.
mike777
Passive, limited auction, will risk declarer will not be able to set up her tricks before we can. Second highest X of D. Partner will often be able to read this as my leading from my longest suit but a suit without honors. If we have six running hearts,,,oops. keylime
I will table a spade and go passive here. I don't like a diamond lead much if I pick of pard's H-x and set up 4-5 minor suit tricks.

han
I know I'd lead the heart ace (attitude) for sure, but I don't know if it is right.

ceeb
Vs strong field -- ♦ for sure as I have painfully been taught to go passive. In random field I think ♠. The ♥ may be ok against 3nt but feels too panicky against 2NT. Yes, partner is likely to return whatever I lead so the ♥'s may get forgotten if I don't lead them. But most likely it just costs a trick or two. Charles
Cascade
Top heart. Hopefully the sight of dummy and partner's card will mean i will know what to do at trick two.
ulven
Top H. Close. Second choice for me is spade but I suspect the majority will choose a heart lead. Therefore stays with the flock for now. I do, however, have mostly bad experiences with leading away from AKx vs NT-contracts (AKxx of course much better) and do try to find an alternative whenever in this situation. Maybe I should change my lead...
Guest Jlall
I thought it was close between spades and hearts as well, the ace of hearts was the winner on this hand (you can cash 4 hearts and 2 clubs, on a passive lead they can cash both pointed suits). han
I've read recommendations to (generally) lead aggressively against 2NT and 3NT but to lead passively (in general) against 1NT and 6NT. Does that make sense?
Guest Jlall
At MP I would generally lead passively vs all the contracts if they are bid in a way to suggest both opps are balanced.

pclayton
Whenever I make a lead that is different than the other posters, I have a series of reactions. 1. Mock the other posters for their ignorance; 2. Become angry at myself for blowing the problem; 3. Acquiescence; 4. Acknowledgement that I don't know everything about the game, and that I have become a better player through the process. There I feel much better :) As far as Han's question, I would say aggressive leads are warranted against 2N and 4N (especially 4N). Against 1N and 3N, its situational. If they have a trick source, we need to attack, but if the hands are balanced, passive wins the day.
