I think bidding is taking an anti-field position here Justin. We have a porous heart suit, the spade suit is too tight, and it's pretty flat hand to compete on.

Defending badly is a very good reason to double, it will make it more likely that your partner will play the hand rather than the two of you defending...

Pass. I like my shape for doubling but don't like the points distribution. If I could move my points in spades towards the minors, I'd happily double.

RHO had something like xx Jx xx Jxxxx and did not bid 1N so you breezed into game (3N instead of 4H actually) when partner had T9xx KQxx AKx xx and made easily. I remain convinced RHO should be bidding 1N at these colors; a majority of the posters would have been shut out of the auction.

Yeh, looks like I was being naiive, guess there's more of a reason to bid here as RHO is more likely to respond on absolutely nothing at these colours.
