Jangvik
I know this has been up before, but I think it's important we reopen this topic again. This is really getting annoying. It happens rather frequently that players at the table just been swushed away into a tourney, without a single warning that they might. Today it happened several times. I really think there must be some solution on this, because it do disturb a lot and creates a lot of unnecessary bad mood among those who is being left at the table. Suggestions: Sugg. 1 There should be impossible for players who are signed up to a tourney to play in main bridge club 6-7 minutes before tourney starts.Sugg. 2 There should be clock attached to those who are signed up to a tourney, telling everyone else how long this prick will stay. I really hope there will be some solution on this.

etherwiz
Either solution would require a large expense in prorammer's time. But it would be nicer to give a warning a few minutes before the start time. A lot of people might forget they reg'ed for a touney if teh they did so a lot earlier and then got involved in a lively fun table. A Tournament should take precideince over a reglar Main Table, and I think the club tables have some priority allready. Perhaps a "reminder" part should be nstalled in the client to simply remind the user he is reg'ed for a touney in a few minutes, hours or days. Perhaps that could also inculde VuGraphs, Lectures, and training sessions inside clubs. That MIGHT be worth the expense of he job - but a BIG HOWEVER HERE. There are programs on the internet - FREEWARE - that does these things allready. Of course the user has to install and maintain them A lot of people allready use macro editors that generate chat lines for them. :D Of course you could always provide a link when a registration is appoved to the Outlook calendar :D
julie5607
I think you are missing the point Helium, the poster is complaining about players who sit at a table in the main bridge club knowing they are signed up for a tourney, who get "whisked away" with no warning shortly after sitting, often in the middle of bidding, playing, or defending a hand, causing disruption to that hand and the table in general. There is another string also regarding this issue, where people have posted several possible solutions, including: Time limits on how close to a tourney's start time a registered player may be allowed to sit at a general table Adding a message about a player's impending tourney registration to the player's stats when the player asks to sit in a seat at a table where permission to sit is required Sending a message to the table that "this player is registered to play a tourney starting in x minutes" within a set time frame before the tourney begins Regardless of what solution is decided upon, and how difficult it is to program, I have seen and heard many BBO players complain about this issue, and have yet to see any response at all from BBO management regarding a possible solution in the works. BBO is a great site, one where rudeness is not tolerated, yet currently the software allows a tremendously rude event to happen regularly at all tables. I would like very much to hear if there are any changes in the works, or if it is just too difficult to deal with at the moment, so we can all know we will just have to live with it. Thanks, Julie
