mike777
It looks like the next great domestic policy debate in the USA will be over single payer health care and in what form if any. As I mentioned in a previous thread what I really would hope to see is some candidate stand up and say one word on health care...imaging. A national, basic research program into radical improvements in medical imaging ala the moon shot of the 1960's. We can view atoms and we can view stars billions and billions of miles away, why not the human body in greater detail? I have faith there are enough smart people out there who could fix the problem or at least make drastic improvements if they could just view the problem better, much better and view it at a low cost(pennies). helene_t
Whether government money spent on medical research is better spent on imaging technology is a technical issue, I would say. Not something for a political manifesto. Whether more government money is needed for research in general sounds more like a political topic. And maybe politicians should even have opinions about whether more money should be allocated specifically to technology, and specifically to medicine. But medical imaging is too specific, IMHO. FWIW I think government money is better spend on basic science, and maybe on public health and such. Technology research will find private funding if it's sound. mike777
I have not noticed any of the big private foundations putting money, alot of money into imaging or basic research in this specific area. I wonder why? This really seems like one area of medicine/health care they could get alot of bang(health improvements) for their charity bucks. Al_U_Card
Hmmmn,,,,no stem cell research......expensive body imaging.....kill the health care for the poor kids.....sounds like the rich and healthy want to stay that way at the risk and peril of the less well off. Just another day on the job for little dick. Will the US survive 2 more years of this? Will they get more of it whether they like it or not?....(unconstitutionally speaking of course)

Of course low cost super imaging would be of no help in cell research or for sick poor kids but they already get all the sympathy and money so let the rich have their fun too. helene_t
So stem cell therapy is for the poor and imaging for the rich? I was not aware of that aspect.
Al_U_Card
All part of the process. World Cull I and World Cull II with little dick's attempt at World Cull III ensures that the rich survive so that they only have the weak and sickly to kill off. God save the rich, right Mike? We need to protect their money and their rights and priviledges because without them....life just isn't worth living.
han
Let's first get health care for everybody, then talk about imaging ok? I suggest that as long as there are people in this country that do not have health care, not a single penny is spent on imaging research. Winstonm
I support imaging 100% and think Kodak should get the government business. It would be so cheap to cover everyone, and even the poor could get snapshots of loved ones. "Here's a picture of your poor aunt before she died of pneumonia.""Here's a snapshot of your mother before influenza got her."

I repeat..I am calling for a huge government program on a basic education/research level on imaging.......als the moon shot...... yes that means billions wasted....... spend more billions...... If you are saying we cannot view the human body in great detail...okIf you say we can view proteins in action....the very first cancer cell or the heart illness in great detail ...i agree. If you say we cannot see cells and see how the interact ..i agreeIf you say we cannot see cancer cells..cannot see how they become cancer or interact...I agree If you say we cannot see stem cells and how they act and interact ok..i agree If you say we cannot see protiens or other...and how the act and interact ok.....If you do not want to make imaging ...super and cost pennies..ok I just have faith that if smart people could see all of the above and more....they could help...in some part....very very poor kids.........to get better........ many posters seem to think smart people could do nothing for the poor with super cheap imaging..........I repeat....many posters seem to say .........smart people could not help poor poor sickpeople.............. But if you do not want to help poor, sick, dying.... kids ok...keep your politics.]\, to help everyone..which means everyone but...the ..not the poor and sick..... if your methods provide the very poor and sick with the best care...pls tell us.......we love fantasy.....the rich of the rich get the very best...and the poor of the poor get the very best..wow....tell us please. Good grace...no wonder the poorest of the poor do not get the very best......
