I think you can construct situations where any suit can work (seriously).

I'll go along with the tap defense like Han. I'm not so much worried about a 'safe' lead here.

2nd choice is a club which may foul communications.

I'm sure You know this game(bridge), but that sounds NOT seriosly. Again a real hand, real people, and leads in 4 suits (in 2 of suits You can beat!! the contract). Now can You guess wich 2 (that was a big Joker  )? Not constructed situation anyway(and not only I bid 5 here I'l make a link later.

Yes this is not a hand from the books- BUT can be!! Who is void ?? I think it have to be W- he knows that we don't have a trick, and lead A bring nothing. If we manage to expel lead-the prospects are much better. lead cut the connection for one down. And lead (and next again, we duck 2 rounds ) cut the connection even for 3 down (sorry i tiped 2down).

The optimal contract by PSBRIDGE is +450

I just don't see how a tap will ever beat this. Sometimes it will lead to down many when we are beating it anyway, but I think it is highly unlikely that a tap will give us a second trick. Spades are likely 5440, and hearts 6610. Say the first one is ruffed by the short hand, then declarer drives out our trump ace, ruffs the heart continuation, pulls our trump, and cashes his minor winners (assuming he has no loser there).

If he has to ruff with the long hand at trick one, he just plays 3 rounds of trumps, now if we take the ace and force he can ruff with this remaining small trump, cross to the other hand, and pull my trump.

If hearts are 5431 then probably the short hand has a heart void to justify his 6 call. It seems only when hearts are 5431 and the overcaller has a heart void the force will work.

I think the way to beat this is just to hope that declarer has to finesse into my K, or that otherwise we have a slow trick in a minor (e.g. declarer misguessing clubs).

If you think you have to build a trick you should lead 9 IMO.

how does this do on a lead?

and what do you mean by "optimal" contract?

+450 means +450 for NS =5 , 11 tricks

optimal contract= if WE play 5 -2 doubled =-500 so it's best to leave NS to play 5.

and it's better for NS to play 5, and not to leave WE to play 4 doubled for

-200. It's just a machine counting the best play and NOT counting the ''human factor''.
