Codo
We all do not know what Zia is doing if he holds this hand 100 times. Maybe he will pass it once and bid it 99 times? But I doubt it, maybe it is simple not their style to bid topless suits in competition. And I believe that this is the most valuable point: If you have a style which allows you to bid this hand, bid 2 Heart, but if you partner expects a better suit, pass. So I cannot understand any strong words for one approach or the other. I had passed too and surely my partner had not expect this hand when I had bid. Maybe the experts had been a little influenced by the view of both hands. It is much easier to overcall 2 Heart when you know that your pd produces AKx in that suit. For the SA case: I totally agree with Mike. SA made a marvellous job and - like Australia- made the most of their possibilities. Others like Italia, Ireland Poland etc. did not play their best bridge in Shanghai. Good to know that this could happen to the best too.
