Finch
So I was watching the BB vugraph this morning, when I wanted to say something privately to someone who was online but not in the same room. I could have displayed the list of names in the lobby, found their userid and clicked on it, but I thought of a faster route. I clicked on 'chat'. The dialog box came up saying 'chat to this room'. In the drop down box, I then changed 'this room' to the userid of the person I wanted to talk to. However, the chat still went the entire room which was a little embarrassing as I was ungagged (luckily I'd said nothing particularly bad). I'm sure I've done this successfully before. I didn't really want to experiment further as you can understand.
muggle
somewhat related. in normal bbo, when kibitzing, the chat button at the bottom of the window defaults to 'Chat to room', I think its better to default it to 'chat to kibitzers', just like when you start a chat by just typing away. This sometimes leads to accidents when newer bbo users kibbing end up saying something to the table unintentionally
paulg
I often seem to have the same problem. I'm not sure if I'm meant to 'tab' out from the field before hitting chat (or the Enter key) but it always seems pretty random whether i send a message to the intended or random person. paulg
Just had the same problem in the vugraph room. I decided to send a message to Roland and clicked on a previous message to chat to me. I then decided to send the message to ritong instead, so typed ritong into the address and typed my message. I then even clicked into the address box and tabbed out. The message went to Roland.
