I double but I don't feel real good about it. 2♦ is a nice toy to have and I wish I had it yesterday playing with Han. I picked up JT9xx KT8x xxxx void. We had a cheap sac in 4♠ opposite Han's KQxx QJ QT QJxxx. Woudln't it be nice to be able to show a more extreme 2 suiter over 1N? if pard knew we had a nice 6-5, we could have heard about it over 4♣. That we ain't got.That's the first I've heard of that treatment: I'm not saying that this is not common...just that it's not common anywhere I've played.. but I haven't travelled for years. Where I come from (ie a distant past), 2N showed an unspecified gf two suiter unwilling to penalize 1N (often on the type of hand where they can make or come close to making 1N x'd while we have a game our way) The given hand is just a tiny bit light for 2N by my standards... it needs at least some degree of fit in one of the suits to make game good. So I choose the 2♦ gadget (many years ago we called this Kokish but then it came up against Eric and he denied any responsibility for it). Having done that, I have to double to show that I hold cards.... 2♦ (for me) could have been (very) weak, if 5-5 or better. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
