Doubling 2NT after the auction: 2NT P P is usually very successful, since dummy is invariably broke, and making 8 tricks from your own hand if your hand is strong balanced is very difficult with no entries to take finesses. However, if you know that opponents wil ALWAYS double, it allows for auctions like this. Redouble is automatic, if you took the risk of passing 2NT and hoping that West will double. Maybe I need to defend better, or just have a partner who makes better leads. With NS vul, EW might have somewhere to run to if South redoubles 2NT, so I don't think pass is insane. I'll tell you this: South has never made this trap pass before yet knew 95% certain that west would double. And they didn't discuss it. B) Btw, in the Norwegian Swiss Pairs (I think) it went 2NT p p x, all pass. Declarer misguessed, since he thought the doubler had the missing cards and went -1 when a normal line would have been successful. After the hand he called for the director!
