Guest Jlall
2C, 2S, and 4S are fine, now both players have obvious doubles.

Impact
North's Pass of 4S was bizarre: he is minimum for his bid in HCP, shape and fit AND he has wasted values in D: short of being loaded eg DKQJ , what was he thinking? With a good partner who passed, anticipating a likely 6 card S suit and no D wastage (and perhaps a greater C fit), I would have a lot of sympathy for a 5S bid by South in the passout position! regards
the hog
Agree with Fred. I don't think a 5S bid by Sth is unreasonable at all. Nth should have doubled 5D.
Codo
If north pass was an "expert" pass and forcing, I would still double. But I had need some time to check the pros for biding (♠ AQ9, ♦ A) versus the cons. But north has no forcing pass, he has a clear and easy double of 5 Diamond, which had rest the case. helene_t
I'm sure if North's pass is forcing. If it is, his failure to double 5♦ is absurd, but even if it's not I think he should have doubled. As South I think I would double 5♦ anyway. Fluffy
North's pass is not forcing, t would only if south bid 3♦. But West's bididng is nuts, so double is ok
