Lucas Two problem

Having agreed Lucas Two (see description below), what do you make of this sequence and what do you bid?

Your hand is

AQT9

Kx

AJ9x

KJT

Partner opens a vulnerable 2H (showing 5+ hearts, 4+ side suit, 7-10 HCP), you bid 2NT asking for the second suit and partner bids 3C, showing his second suit. You bid 3NT (do you?) and partner bids 4S, so that's:

2H - 2NT

3C - 3NT

4S

Would you have bid 3NT right away? (Partner can have 4S + 5H)

What's 4S and what do you do now?

I guess he's 4-5-0-4. The question now is should you go for slam or not? I guess not, since partner's s seem better than his s, you can lose 2 easy tricks because of the wrongsiding of the contract,...

Pass

What do I do?

I bid 4N, since I bid 3N to play I'm now having to play 4N because my pd is crazy.

I'd inmediately change my pd, this is not something smart that you should understand this not only an idiotic bid but also a bid from something that is thinking he is very smart.

Sorry pd but I'm too stupid to play with you.

seems to me that this is an obvious slam try, and partner must have 4504 shape... nothing else makes any sense.. i don't know how to continue tho, except 4nt (i try not to cuebid at 5 level if possible, and besides i'm not sure a cue would agree spades)

I play the dutch version of Lucas known as Muiderberg in which opener has five card major and a four card or longer minor. I think Lucas 2H can have a four card spade suit. I have obvioulsy never had an auction go as described and since my hand can be anything, I think partner as a rule should not overrule my decision. What can he have? I am thinking he must have two strong four card black suits and junk in s. Something like KJxx xxxxx void AQxx. If he is this strong, we have just wrongsided 6, and will need the hook on (assuming a is lead at trick one). But I would open that hand. Weaken his hand in some way, say remove the queen and slam is long shot.

I simply pass, and decide that lucas is not for me and ask my partner to switch to Muiderberg.

I have to agree with Luis. Pd must have had a few to many drinks or something, since a weak hand has no right to get pd out of his decision. Pd should know what is going on. 4 is in my eyes the bid of a very drunk pd who thinks he can handle the world :o

Ben and Luis are correct - partner has imbibed too much alcohol or smoked some noxious substances. I pass and go home. 4450 hands are not ones on which you wish to open a 2 suiter anyway.

I agree with the other comments and I know the problem says 2nt asks for 2nd suit... I have played a method where playing Lucas twos 2nt is lebensohl and 3c is pass or correct to second suit.

Using this method 3nt direct (2h-3nt) is to play but the sequence

2h-2nt-3c-3nt asks for 2nd suit at the 4 level and is slam going.
