Why isn't "When partner opens a Flannery? 2" on the list? :)

To me, it is when partner doesn't open 2 Flannery. I hate that convention with a passion.

I wonder if all the voters for "penalty double" are making enough penalty doubles...

Obviously it feels great when you know that you got them, but aren't there a lot of doubles where:

(1) It's MP, and you're really not sure if they're going down.

(2) You just made a tough decision to double their sacrifice instead of competing, and aren't really sure you got it right.

(3) Dummy shows up and it looks an awful lot like opponents might make the hand.

(4) Partner pulls the double even though opponents were toast.

My favourite is when I make a fake bid that turns out well, such as raising partner's clubs with Qxx then using keycard blackwood wich is the only way to find he has exactly AK and count 13 tricks

I hate penalty doubles, I've had many times the same nightmare when I double a stupid high level contract having loads of trumps, but when I lead there is something like a 6 at dummy wich is duplicated in my hand and I know the result won't stand.

I voted for partner's rebidding 1NT since is the most accurate bidding we have in our system, with one partner we can even switch to relays.

When I make a penalty double.

Really feel good when I hold a couple of jacks and a stiff spade - RHO opens 1N (p) 2C (p); 2S (p) 3S (p) - with the invitational auction, I know partner holds a very decent hand and a spade stack - when opener accepted, I doubled. As declarer misguessed each critical suit/card in turn, I just kept feeling better and better :)

My favorites are those when our system seems to give us an advantage. But I voted "when RHO preempts". This is one of the few situations in which I think my judgement is better than that of the field.

Also I like auctions that start with an overcall, either by me or by partners. We play more solid overcalls than most of the field so we lose on those hands where we fail to overcall but win on those where we do. Also I think we have better mutual understandings of the follow-ups than most of the field.
