Wanted: Reviews for "Morehead on Biddng"

Recommended Posts

I recently came across the book "Morehead on bidding", second printing (1964).

I would be grateful if you would please let me know if this book is worth reading.. is it outdated? etc...

I apologise if the reviews already exist in the book reviews thread, I could not find it there. Also, if this post needs to part of that thread, moderator, please feel free to move it there.

Thanks.

I've never read the original, just the updated/revised version by Truscott/Alder with a 1990 publishing date. That one at least is worth looking through, but advanced+ players won't find too much novel information in there. The main chapter I think that differentiates it from other books is the one on strong jump shifts; those often get short shrift in other books, and he advocates a style of SJS different from many, that is worth considering / thinking about using.

I too havent read the original but have read the edition revised by Truscott.

Its the best book I have read on Bidding Ideas. The emphasis is not on conventions but on logic behind the bidding ideas. The topic I found especially enlightening was when and why 5-3 or 6-2 fits are superior to 4-4 fits.

I strongly recommend it to all.
