hrothgar
I'm passing... I know that I have 5 Spades, but partner is passed hand and I have (some) Heart length. 2♠ could work out brilliantly. It could also be deadily if RHO is sitting on values and short Hearts. I consider this a very hard problem.
Guest Jlall
Pass it out you have Qxx of hearts and partner couldn't bid. He probably has either heart length or not much in the way of values (or both). I know it's white/white MP and that you have to auto bid at that but partner is gonna bid something and RHO is gonna start Xing.
Free
I would pass
skjaeran
Pass really looks like the odds on action, so that's my choice.Of course you could hit gold by bidding 2♠, but not too often.
han
This is a fairly clear pass I think. But move the heart queen to the diamond queen (same shape) and that would make it much closer.
mikeh
cluck...cluck..cluck.... I join the flock of chickens passing this hand... sometimes pass is the toughest call to make... My thinking is that if we could tell partner to pass our reopening 2♠ (so long as he has at least a couple of them), then balancing is probably the right call... but the problem is that we do not have the right to tell him:' 2♠...TO PLAY!'... he wil have to cater to your having a potentially much better hand, and will therefore tend to get you too high... whereagles
At imps pass is a stand out. At matchpoints I would venture 2♠ some of the time (even though it's technically dubious, this bid works more often than it should).
Finch
White at matchpoints? I'm a 2S bidder. Sorry.
Apollo81
I thought my opps warranted it so I bid 2♠. An interesting play problem resulted. See my other thread.
jdonn
I would bid 2♠ w/w at mps. Good problem it's very close, but I just don't want to pass without mentioning the spades.
