vang
at the table i choose the wet 3♣. still, i think partner should have saved me, with x Axxx x AKJxxxx he can count on 8 direct tricks from his hand (and 4♣ doesn't seems in big danger). do you agree? jdonn
All wet? http://www.answers.com/topic/all-wethttp://www.thefreedictionary.com/all+wet (under idioms)http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/wet (a little below #8)http://www.reference.com/browse/all/wet (18) Actually I learned something too, I thought it also carried a conotation of wimpiness, but I guess not. ulven
On the 3♥ vs 3♠ question: I learned that: * If opps bid 1 suit, we ask stoppers* If opps bid 2 suits, we show stoppersI bid 3♥ as I prefer 'always ask'. Easily solves the case when you lack stoppers in both shown suits, which may occur under some circumstances.
jdeegan
:) 3♠My hand is HUGE given this auction so far. We should have nine tricks opposite ♣AKJ sixth and out, so 4♣ ought to be safe or, at the very least, a good save against their part score. Most likely, that's the limit of the hand, but bidding 3♠ will allow partner to bid game (either 3NT or 5♣) if he has extras. I am also showing defense with this bid so pard will not be in too big of a hurry to find a 5♣ phantom save.
pbleighton
I'll content myself with 3♣. I'm not going to hang pard for stepping in with x, Kxxx, xx, AKJxxx. Agree. Peter
helene_t
I like to play 2NT as a good raise of partner's overcall in this type of sequence where no cuebid is avialable. But that would wrongside 3NT when overcaller has the stopper. Isn't it better to play Lebensohl? I voted 2NT, assuming it is natural.
