One could argue that the most readily available information is superficial stuff, especially beauty. Given more than five minutes (and given a more serious decision than whether to check someone for a date-matching scheme), some of the men might chose differentlty. Then again, they might not .... Another study I once saw cited was by some antropologist who showed photos of women to the men in an isolated Amazonan tribe. It turned out that the Amazonan men had the same preferences as Western men. One of the Amazonan men said something like "I like women with broad hips, they can deliver babies more safely".
