. The fact that p is marked with some points make it even more attractive. Even if he doesn't have A he may gain the lead before my trumps are out.

 

A reason not to lead the heart is that with four trumps we may not benefit from the ruff. But often we will.

Heart six. Partner has all the high cards for our side. Very little is needed with North for the heart lead to work compared with other leads. The idea is that it will go: heart, heart ruff, side suit to partner's ace, heart ruff for one down.

 

It should be noted that we will almost never have a natural trump trick. Partner has only a stiff spade, so unless it is the ace, or perhaps the king, declarer if left to his own devices, will pick our trumps up.

Here is the full deal for the hand I played. We set the contract, but I couldn't figure out why anyone would make it. The heart lead looked too obvious for me.

Club lead and West throws Hearts, Diamond lead and East throws Hearts.

 

And as you can see on the Heart lead, South gets to throw Diamonds.
