I'd be very happy if they ended up in 4 of a minor. I don't want to do anything to encourage them to go to 5. At this vulnerability, I'm not interested in saving over 5 of a minor.

Pass, and pass again if it comes back to me at 5 of a minor.

Agree, particularly since 3H doesn't promise 4. Even if it did I'd pass.

Opps are in a GF situation. They will bid 5 or 6. Am I going to bid 5 at this vul? Maybe, after all partner is aware of the vul as well and I could have a lot less O-D than I do. Maybe getting doubled in 4 and make it .....

Fantasyland.

I'm more worried about the opponents bidding slam than hoping they stay out of game. I want to take away their cue, so I'll try 4.

I'd pass...

The opponents are not going to play four of a minor. Bidding 4 just gives them a "fielder's choice" to double us or bid on. It doesn't even take away any space, since we're giving them a forcing pass and a double instead of 4 and 4 bids. In addition, bidding might warn them of bad breaks (it's easy to believe they will bid slam and go off if I pass) or of duplication of shortness (what if they both upgrade for their small singleton heart?).

I don't really think we're going to sacrifice in 5 or 6 at these colors.

Is it clear pass is forcing? (Opponents are very good experts but first-time partners.)

This is a clearcut pass to me.

4 won't take away any space for opps, we don't want to save at these colours, and of course a pass by LHO is forcing here; LHO already invited game and RHO bid a new suit at the 4-level, which must at least be encouraging. Opps won't stop at the 4-level now, more probably they're heading for slam.

I was going to say Pass, wtp, until I saw some posters have a problem. :P

My main worry is partner will double the opp assuming I have some defense for my unfav vul 1H overcall. I assume IJO of 2H would promise 6 hearts not 5 hearts so with an opening hand and all or many hands with 5 hearts I must overcall one heart?
