If you know the hand, please don't answer yet. I would like to know how many people would make the same call as I made.
kenrexford
First choice is 2♣. Second choice is 1NT.
the hog
First choice 2C, second choice 2C. If I were playing in a non serious event and mucking around, I suppose I might try 3NT, especially after drinking a bottle of wine or two after dinner. neilkaz
First choice 2C, second choice 2C. If I were playing in a non serious event and mucking around, I suppose I might try 3NT, especially after drinking a bottle of wine or two after dinner. I prefer it when experts like yourself don't muck around when discussing bidding. Anyhow..2♣..since 3♣ doesn't preempt enough and misses cold 3NT's and 3NT is getting drilled doubled too often. .. neilkaz ..thinking this hand is simple if PD knows how to respond to an overcall. skjaeran
Normally I'd never look further than 2♣ as my first call.

cherdano
Since I am not allowed to answer, maybe I can ask a question: Is 3♣ (intermediate) an option?
jillybean
2♣, 3♣ wtp?

Fluffy
2♣, next would be 3NT clos eto 3♣but both are heavily outweighted by 2♣
pclayton
Lets see, pard is a passed hand (did anyone notice that). We are looking at ♠xx ♥x? (anyone notice that?). 2♣ doesn't get the job done. 3 or 4♣ is attractive to me. (I had originally put down 2♣, but changed my mind when I looked at this closer)

Halo
With one or two defensive tricks and seven or eight offensive the hand looks like a preempt to me. This is IMPs and I would bid 4C at the vulnerability.
helene_t
1NT and 3♣ in no particular order. I know 2♣ is the disciplined bid but I'm afraid it leads to nowhere.
pbleighton
2C. If I chose to preempt, I would bid 4C. Peter
whereagles
Pard passed, so I'm taking some liberties here. 3 or 4♣, depending on how I feel.
jdonn
I would put forth that our side is as likely to have game as theirs is even after partner's pass, with so much playing strength. So I strongly dislike preempting, I thik 3♣ in particular is a unilateral non-partnership bid.
Apollo81
2♣. Second choice 1♣.

P_Marlowe
Hi, 2C, but 3C is reasonable as well. With kind regardsMarlowe
Finch
Well, my mind is closed and I hate 1NT.I would bid 2C. Failing that I would pre-empt in clubs.I fail to see what 1NT is supposed to achieve. Does it pre-empt the opponents? No. Does it describe your hand to partner? No. Is it a difficult psyche for the opponents to deal with? No. Playing poor opponents who don't know what a penalty double looks like 1NT might work, but playing poor opponents anything else will probably work equally well...
