Free
You hold:[hv=d=w&v=n&s=sqt952h95dj63cq94]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] The auction starts:pass - 1♣ - pass - 1♠pass - 2♠ - Dbl - pass??? What do you do? EDIT for Fluffy: 2♠ can be done with a 3 card, but I don't know how frequent. So no idea if they always do this, or just with 5431's for example... Fluffy
If 2♠ can be 3 cards often I'll pass, otherwise I bid 2NT sclambing. EDIT: I might try to inquiry a bit more, but looks like a pass to me. Our best possible contract is 3♣ where trumps can be very badly. hrothgar
I'll pass Not happy about it, but 3X could be a blood bath. (The opponents could easily be playing in a seven card fit and there is no gauruntee that we can find our own best fit) I'd be much happier if this were MPs
ulven
Pass. Partner has a good defensive hand to come in 'live' against the highest ranking suit, i.e. forcing us to the 3-level without a guaranteed fit.
jdonn
I wouldn't pass. My one and only explanation is, they always seem to make when I do! 2NT for me to get partner to pick a minor, which is how I play it.

SoTired
pass - you have a better chance of setting 2S than making 3D on a 43 fit. Partner has an opening bid and likely 0445, but might be 1444. If partner has 5d, they are too weak to overcall 2D, so 2SX has better chance for positive. Can't disagree with any of this.
