helene_t
I have been offered a job in Lancaster, England. This raises a number of questions. First of all, since it rains a lot there I'll need a house with a roof. Any suggestions?

bid_em_up
First of all, since it rains a lot there I'll need a house with a roof. Q: Don't most houses already have roofs? Suggestion 1: Buy/Rent house that has roof already installed. Suggestion 2: As part of accepting job offer, request employer to provide roof for house, assuming house didnt already have one. :)

Winstonm
Advice? 1) Don't go. 2) If you must, rent. Big-time housing bubble in England that will crash within a year or two.3) Do not pretend to be Muslim.
helene_t
3) Do not pretend to be Muslim. How do I convince them that I'm not a muslim? I'm not too fond of pigmeat and I don't like English beer either.
sceptic
and I don't like English beer either. This may be a major stumbling block Helene
Gerben42
I don't like beer either and I'm living in... Bavaria. Still no problem ;) Lancre, isn't that where Nanny Ogg lives? How do I convince them that I'm not a muslim? Maybe your North-European look will help :D
MikeRJ
Lancaster has a friendly bridge club (at least it was when I played there once in about 1990). http://www.lancsbridge.co.uk/lanc1004.htm. Mike
