pclayton
1. ♠8xxx ♥x ♦AJxxx ♣xxx Matchpoints; opps are vul, LHO deals: (1♠) - 2♥ - (2♠) - pass(pass) - dbl - (pass) - 3♦(pass) - pass - (3♠) - ? 2. ♠Qx ♥AQx ♦JTxxxx ♣Kx Matchpoints, we are vul - pard deals and opens 1♦ (Strong NT setting) and RHO butts in with 5♣. inquiry
Can;t go too far wrong agreeing with justin, and that is true here too.. 1. Pass2. Dbl I am more likely to take the push to 4D on 1 than 5D on 2. But pass on 1 seems best.
Free
Pass on the first seems too simple... On the second hand however, isn't there a huge risk partner bidding 5M at this vulnerability? :P
Codo
1. this should be 100 % pass 2. I bid 5 ♦ and bet that they will bid 6 club which I double.
Fluffy
First one I pass, dummy looks like ♦ short and declarer will have something like 5242 then. We make nothing, and it will be hard to beat them. So pass. The second one is tough, double at MP because we cannot beat 3/4NT with 5♦. At IMPs would bid my game (and hope partner raises to 6)

Walddk
- 1. Double. I think we can make 3♦, so I can't let them get away with -100. We need the 200 (I am aware of the fact that we may concede 730). - 2. Double. If I have any excuse whatsoever, I will not bid 5♦ at matchpoints. Rossoneri
1. What does partner's X mean? I will take pass though... 2. X
pclayton
1. When given this problem, I thought it was close between Pass and 4♦, but maybe I don't play enough MPs. Double was the winning bid. Pard held: x AKJxx, Qxx, KQxx. I know the club ace was onside, but the hearts were 5-2. You are doomed to an Ave- if you pass and you get a zero for 4♦. The person that gave me the hand passed. 2. I doubled when given the problem. My reasoning was that my ♣K was either hitting shortness, or LHO has shortness. Pard held: AKxx, Kxxx, KQxx, x. The person that gave me the hand bid 6♦ - not a success...
