(1C opening can be a 2-card, opps open 5=5=4=2) If you pass: - Is there any club holding that could change your bid?????xx

pbleighton
umm...I'll bite I consider this an automatic pass... Ditto. With the cards in the other suits the same I would still pass with 765432 in clubs. Peter
kenrexford
It depends. If I'm playing normal bridge, I pass. However, in the Xango System, I'm allowed to redouble this. If playing Xango, then, my call is redouble. "Is there any club holding that could change your mind?" (????xx) Yes. If all of the question marks are spades, I won't pass. However, if my hand is ♠1096 ♥A ♦Jxx ♣7654xx, I'll still pass. They might not go down, but I dislike my other options.

skjaeran
This is an automatic pass, wtp?Agree with Justin - I don't pass with 765432. A65432 I might pass though, but that's not absolutely clear.

Fluffy
Yes. If all of the question marks are spades, I won't pass. However, if my hand is ♠1096 ♥A ♦Jxx ♣7654xx, I'll still pass. They might not go down, but I dislike my other options. When I was starting I remember passing a hand similar to this. Father used an anecdote form a real hand in the european teams championsip to show me it was wrong, on both table sit started 1♣-X-ps , one player bid 1♦with ♦Jxx the other passed (♣Jxxxxx). Results were +1390 and +300. I don't even think of passing since :).
the hog
The posted hand is a pass. This hand is definitely NOT a pass:♠1096 ♥A DJxx ♣7654xx
Walddk
Pass. My only concern is when my partner leads a diamond, heart or spade, because then he is void in clubs. A trump lead is mandatory regardless of the holding because advancer has shown a strong suit by passing - a suit that can stand a lead. We don't want declarer to score low trumps. This answers the second question. My trump suit is long and strong when I pass a low-level take-out double. Roland
kenrexford
This is matchpoints, right? I'm sure no one cares whether the bottom result is for -140 or -1390, right?
