cherdano
We all like to have T9 besides the top honors for a weak 2, but it seems to me in practice we only remember this when we construct hands for partner opposite our singleton trump support. Even KQJxxx will lose two heart trick more often than not, and xx KQ98xx Kxx xx is still a maximum weak two for me at these colours (thank good it's a free world). I got convinced pass is right at matchpoints.
mike777
I guess alot more people than I realize open 2H in second seat at unfav vul on real junk. :) I fail to see how we could not force to game, some game assuming partner has not psyched. We are told medium sound.....geez we may have a slam if super sound.
ArtK78
A 3NT response to 2NT shows a solid suit - AKQJxx minimum. The whole point of the bid is to show a suit worth six tricks opposite a small singleton. So, if partner responds 3NT to my 2NT, I will pass. Otherwise, my hand is more than sufficient to play in 4♥ opposite anyone who opens 2♥ red against not in second seat.

The whole point of the bid is to show a suit worth six tricks opposite a small singleton. A 3NT response to 2NT shows AKQxxx or better. The whole point of the bid is to show a running suit opposite a small doubleton to help partner choose between 3N and 4M. Seriously, I just hate those kind of universal claims unless they are really based on knowing what a lot of experts play, or having read various MSC discussions etc.
jtfanclub
A 3NT response to 2NT shows a solid suit - AKQJxx minimum. Minimum? How much better does hand have to be before you, I dunno, open it 1 heart?
Guest Jlall
I'll go for 2NT.Over 3♦ I'll rebid 3NT.Over 3♣/♠ I'll bid 4♥. This was also my plan. I bid 2N (considering it close to pass and 2N), partner bid 3D, I bid 3N. Partner had T8xx AQTxxx K xx. It was actually an interesting play problem but I ended up making despite DQ, SK, and HKJ9xx all being offside.
nige1
MP you pick up ♠ A Q J x ♥ x ♦ A J x x ♣ K Q x x Partner opens 2H 2nd seat red/white. Partner is medium level soundness at this vul. Your system is feature. What do you do? If you ask for a feature what is your plan over the various followups? IMO 2N = 10, _P = 8, 4♥ = 4, 3N = 2. Opposite a minimum, game prospects are poor but most maximums provide a fair play for game at this vulnerability. The main reason that you should try, IMO, is that partner may have 6-4 or 6-5 shape and then game may be good
benlessard
Partner had T8xx AQTxxx K xx I hope he's a student... or at least paying your entry fees + the food (beers also of course)
Fluffy
Partner had T8xx AQTxxx K xx I hope he's a student... or at least paying your entry fees + the food (beers also of course) uh?, What flaw did you see in his bidding?
Codo
Partner had T8xx AQTxxx K xx I hope he's a student... or at least paying your entry fees + the food (beers also of course) uh?, What flaw did you see in his bidding? That you are not able to reach 4 Spade in the 4/4 fit? You are in second position, so your risk to preempt partner is 50 %. You better have a clear cut non discussable weak two in this case or you loose any post mortem. You had loose exactly nothing by passing this hand.
