jtfanclub
lol, West redoubled because he had all the Jacks, North overcalled on a ridiculous four card suit, and South only raised to 2♠ with 4 pieces and a void in opp's suit and two Aces. East was the only one who "had his bid" (although South had it and quite a bit more). And don't forget that the director fouled up too...we went from red to green! I know lots of people who would understand North's X...the "I was just kidding" X, which says "I don't know if they can make 4 hearts, but we sure can't make four spades!" pbleighton
Agree. Doing 4-card overcalls myself on occasion I'd have to say bidding on this north hand wouldn't occur to me. Neither should it to anyone else. It depends on your agreements. It sure would to me, in one partnership, where it would be routine, but not in any other. That said, I wouldn't double 4H with this hand, since 2S can be a yarborough in competition. Peter
SoTired
I am so happy others see hands like this, too. How can you make a good decision when nobody has bid right? I get "What should I bid?" questions like this about 50% of the time. I analyze the bidding and make a decision. Then I find out the partner has bid so terrible it was impossible to make the right decision. Almost always, a disaster occurs and partner blamed the questioner.
