neilkaz
1) it is important to have some way to show a weak hand in response to PD's reverse. 2) Playing SA PD's reverse may be just short of a 2♣ opener. How do you know that PD doesn't have 20 or 21 HCP not suitable for opening 2NT. In the actual hand PD had 18 HCP and game makes ! I recommend Leb after NT openings, your doubles of their weak 2's, and your reverses. It is not that complicated and I find that having Leb in the arsenal really helps reduce the effective of the opp's 2♠ and even 2♥ openings since when you respond at the 3 level you actually have some cards. .. neilkaz .. Trumpace
Playing standard methods I have shown 6 in response to my partners opening bid. Having overbid in the first round I don't want to encourage partner further, we have a 4-3 fit :) Kathryn, this hand is suddenly better than 6 points, because KQx in partner's second suit is a great holding. If partner puts us in game, I expect it to be decent.Perhaps, I think with a 4-3 fit and ~22points we won't be missing too many games. :) As a general rule I'm not saying pass forcing bids, I think this is an exception.imo its an ugly hand, we responded with less than a minimum and we have no agreements to show a weak hand now. Better part score than a minus when we end up in a bad game. Jilly,Arend isn't talking about just a heart contract. After the 2H bid by pard, your hand has become better than sub-minimum. Your hand is likely worth 2 extra tricks to partner, in either a diamond or an NT contract. One definitely should not pass with this hand given the bidding as it developed.
