In fact, I'm seriously tempted to bid 4 spades....I may make if partner has 5 spades to the king and no other points. I do hate missing game. Counting in an oldfashioned way I get to 6 (2 spade, 3 red, 1 club)I still bid 3♠ counting on a nine card spade fit and the solid clubs. Counting in an oldfashioned way I get to 6 (2 spade, 3 red, 1 club) When I picked up the hand, I had six losers. Now that I know spades are trump, I count 4.5. If partner has a doubleton club, I have no club losers (one small club gets ruffed). If partner has three clubs, I have no club losers (assume they split for LTC purposes). So there is no amount of clubs partner can have where I would count a loser in clubs. In spades, well, I'm counting the AJ9x as half a loser. I probably shouldn't, but odds are good that, worst case scenario, we can finesse with this holding for 50% short of another trick. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
