inquiry
When you click the director button (as opposed to directly private messsaging them), they can see your table number. But, if you are asking for a correction from, say the last round, you maynot be at the same table. Once the director knows your table number, he or she can jump to that table and look at the movie (the movie stick with the table) to see what the play was. Thus, sending the current table number is of no use to the director if you have already moved. But thin the director should not ask for room number but instead demand a copy of the movie be sent to them by chat. They are being nice to you only requesting room number. Gerardo
You can choose "South as South" in the options, then you would move from South position to the real one. Failing that (being comfortable in the South point of view) you can always see the movie, it shows where you sit.

uday
Another reason - perhaps the most pertinent - is that we cannot find a good way to show the directions on the playing table. If anyone can come up with a good place on the table to show the Compass , we'd be delighted. Everything we've tried looks really bad. That coupled with our (wishful?) thinking that you shouldnt need to know the directions has held us back.
Gerben47
Well instead of showing the score sayingWe: +0.5 IMPsThey: -0.5 IMPs One can put down We (NS): +0.5 IMPsThey (EW): -0.5 IMPs If you are kibitzing, south is automatically the bottom hand so you can then writeNS: +0.5 IMPsEW: -0.5 IMPs and forget about the We and They altogether since they don't exist. ack_hh
If anyone can come up with a good place on the table to show the Compass , we'd be delighted. Put a (small) N/S/E/W in front of each player's name or put them into the table symbol (similar to the "D"ealer).
JRG
Another reason - perhaps the most pertinent - is that we cannot find a good way to show the directions on the playing table. If anyone can come up with a good place on the table to show the Compass , we'd be delighted. Everything we've tried looks really bad. That coupled with our (wishful?) thinking that you shouldnt need to know the directions has held us back. When you are watching a table, the Window Title Bar says something that ends with the Id of the Host ("... JRG" for example). Just add the direction the north player is sitting in parentheses. Knowing which direction one player is sitting is all that is necessary. So for example: Bridge Base Online - The Beginner/Intermediate Lounge - Table shep (North: Jimmy V) It would be unobtrusive but give that vital piece of information
hallway
of course in the BIL we have no such trouble - all we have to do is click on the Black table button on the right hand side of our screens and all is revealed
inquiry
Or you can open the movie... the people at your table are shown in the correct seat.
QQSV
OK, Uday; here is my suggestion for putting the direction on the table. All that is needed is a simple (small) arrow that points to North. I would suggest that it be immediately to the right of the vulnerability in the upper left hand corner, and to the left of the North (or top) player. Just a small black arrow with a "N" at the head is quite sufficient. The arrow rotates, of course, depending upon who is actually North. You can make the arrow's presence a table option (and default it to off if you have set South to always be at the bottom, for example.) I don't think that that would have to be very ugly. --Q (Dick Wagman)
