SoTired
For me 1. But I can understand how some might open this 2. But it is not a 0. There may be hands that are not strong enough for 1 and not suitable for 2, but none that occupy between 1 and 2 and become 0.

jtfanclub
One, if partner is an unpassed hand. Two, if partner is a passed hand.
skjaeran
1♠.I see no reason to preempt on a hand that might easily cooperate in a constructive auction.

ralph23
One for me. Interesting and a propos jt's posting, my partner held a very similar hand in a very similar auction and I was a passed hand. Partner jumped to 2♠. After the hand, the opps called the director and we were (mainly moi) interrogated on whether this was a "normal" jump overcall. Partner said "Hey my partner was a passed hand after all.... I should have more liberties." I expressed the opinion that I thought it was too good for a jump overcall and that I did not expect this good a hand from partner, which was true and we didn't get our birthdays taken away or anything. But I think it's interesting that the same question comes up here, if overcaller's partner is a passed hand.

ArtK78
Any competent director would (nicely) laugh off the complaints of the opponents. Obviously, your partner can bid whatever he wants to, no matter how silly a bid it is. 2S on these cards is silly.
jdonn
Bad suit, good defense, could easily belong in hearts. Why would anyone preempt?

[hv=d=e&v=n&s=sq98732hak5dc9763]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] IMO 1♠ = 10, 2♠ = 3, P = 2, 3♠ = 1.You seem to have sound opening values, offensively and defensively. Quantumcat
I have an agreement with my partner that we never pre-empt with a void, and the suit is bad quality. I'll wait and see what my partner does. If my partner had passed, I might bid 1S to annoy the opps.

Our card says of our jump overcalls "weak, wide range opposite a passed hand" But this is a 1S overcall whether or not partner is a passed hand. I answered "No not at all" and that was basically the end of it. Partner had made a "sporting" bid that did not comport with our system, and c'est la vie. However, director was IMHO right to inquire if we played "Intermediate" or "Strong" jump overcalls, as these are alertable on the ACBL convention card. I think "strong" was actually in vogue in the 1940's or 50's .... BTW the poll results are surprising .... according to it so far, over 20% of the respondents bid 2♠. And I can't recall ever playing against someone who didn't play weak jump overcalls... something just doesn't connect here.
