Bidding Question

Recommended Posts

Pard is saying all he needs for game is a bit of help in the diamond suit. All of your points and long cards are in excellent places, pard will be disappointed with none of them. So bid "yes" with 4. If you had QJx they wouldn't help pard at all so you'd say "no" with 3.

Impossible to say without knowing your partnership game tries. This is an area that warrants discussion in any serious partnership.

Agreed..if you play short suit game tries, then you must bid 3 and hope to make it since your are wasted opposite PD's stiff and they'll likely be too many black suit losers.

If you play help suit, or long suit, or game tries hoping for fitting cards in the game try suit then you certainly have a nice shot at 4 so I'd bit it.

without discussion, this is a natural game-try, and since all your honors are working, bid 4H.

Although some people play short-suit game-tries, noone would bid that without discussion, so assume long suit (natural) game tries.

Is it advisable to make a long suit game try with 5-4-3-1 shape when the 4 carder is A Kx x? The partnership has a gadget whereby they can play both long and short game tries.1-2-2-is "My next bid will tell you my shortness so please bid puppet 2NT" 1-2-2NT is long suit game try in ,etc.

Should one show shortness or bid the A K xx suit for long suit game try?

If this is a natural game try, we're not going to stop short of game. I'll bid 4 on the way to 4 to show 3-5 and a good suit. It's just possible for partner to find a great 6 with the right hand now.

Sure, opener might have just bid 4 with that hand, but, since he is going to game anyway, why not involve partner. Note that 6 has no play even if trump break, while 6 makes even if hearts are 4-1 and trump are 3-0.

P opens 1.You respond 2 Pbids 3.What is your respnse?

I would bid 4d without a second thought.

Partner will note I did not bid 3s or 4clubs. :)

These are really the type of hands we nonexperts need to get easily correct. We mess up too many other ones. :)

Hi everyone

If you play 'two way' game trys, you should show the short suit with a 5431 hand.

Robert

These in fact were the 2 hands.6 is an excellent contract.Our precision biddding went 1(16+)-1(0-8)-1(forcing relay;20-21 balanced or 16+ natural 5+)-1NT(6-8 balanced)-2(Natural 5+,4+) NF)-4-p-p-p.

Wondered if a natural bidding sequence could end in slam.Thank you all.
