I'd play the 4, which normally is encouraging in my methods.

A thinking partner would see that it's got to be suit preference for 's on this occasion, nothing else make sense IMO.

And partner would then switch to a low holding Kx and a high holding singleton K (attitude).

If partner switches to a high I'll win the king and return the T, suit preference for 's.

Ditto this, but add in one thought.

I'll trust partner to make correct carding plays. However, I ain't trusting 100%. As a redundancy, I'll win that high club with the club Ace, just to be extra cautious.

Well, I thought I'd win with the ace, but I'll not let partner in the total dark.

Then again, I'm used to playing with awake partners who trust my suit preferences.

Playing with a total unknown I might have won the ace too. :P

I play the 8 in an attempt to get partner to switch to a heart before it is too late.

The 10 is too dangerous, and no other card is likely to get the message across.

Discourage what else ?

Why would you want to play count in a situation like this, just doesnt make any sense ?

From partner point of view a continuation or a shift is possible.

playing standard signal.

low switch clubs.

middle or weird card. switch

If you have problems with this hand i strongly suggest you to go grabs some defense books
