Booting the host

Recommended Posts

I was just playing a hand, in which the host left his computer, but was still logged on to BBO. Just a simple suggestion, but I think that there should be a way to vote the host off the table without the host's permission. This also allows players to remove hosts who regurarly boot their partners because they do not meet the host's expectations. This is simply a way to limit the power of a host before playing bans take effect.

"Remove", ie be let off an unhospitable host is no big deal. If the other players already agree being discontent with the host, they can always start a new table. Problem solved.

But the problem with a host not playing on...

You can of course quit. There is practically no punishment if you dont do it often.

Or / and like above, ask the others to start a new table if they are nice and enyojable.

But the board was perhaps interesting and you want to play it out.

Yes, it is a irritating problem.

One solution could be the robots. But when there were free to try out, they didnt played ready the board, they promptly beginned a new board. Being thus worthless as substitutes.

i still remember one annoying experience of entering a table as dummy and the hand was in trick 1 with the opening lead A on the table. My hand was just worth opening value and declarer's was also good (like a GF hand or something like that). Then I saw that auction... The previous player in my seat opened 1, pass by LHO, and my p bid.....(guess what....) 7N

My RHO (the host) had AK and A. He led A, then the declarer just refused to play. Instead of booting the declarer RHO left (a foolish move), making the declarer the host. Now we cannot continue anymore. LHO was shouting but we both couldn't do anything...

Clearly one situation where booting the host would be beneficial...
